The Fascinating World Of Games
Some kids dream of growing up to become rock stars, or doctors, or presidents or fireman. Me, for the longest time I really didn’t know but around my mid teens something clicked and I knew I really wanted to create computer games. It wasn’t just the playing side of gaming that interested me, but more the broader big picture. What I’m trying to say, is that I loved everything about games. The playing, the designing, the artwork, the music, the hardware, the software . . . everything. To this day, it’s gaming that really taxes the technical limits of home computers. And that is because the the complex logic that runs behind them.
It doesn’t matter if it’s free games for girls, or strategy games, the logic and software that drives that logic is far more complex than the simple business based applications that run on many computers. When that’s combined with realistic graphics, and moving sound scores, then your PC is really working. And that’s just really interesting to me.
Creating the perfect game is really a combination of so many cool disciplines. Design, programming, artwork, music, and an understanding for what’s truly fun for the player. Have you ever watched the credits roll at the end of a good computer game. There are literally hundreds of people involved in the production. Game creation is truly a multi disciplined talent.
