Blacksmithing is one of the 11 primary professions which can be chosen in WoW. Leveling up Blacksmithing requires a lot of materials, especially the ore that can be gathered throughout the World of Warcraft are needed. You have three options to obtain the ore:  you can buy all these ores for amazing amounts of gold, you can transfer them from another character you have which has the Mining professions which allows one to gather the ore or you can take Mining as your second profession.

When it comes to leveling up Blacksmithing you can basically say that it is quite easy if you have Mining as a second profession. You will be able to make great items with Blacksmithing. At first you will primarily be making Weapons and Mail Armor. At some point your trainer will teach you how to make Plate and Weaponry. Plate Armor is worn by Death Knights, Paladins and Warrior which makes Blacksmithing a perfect match for these classes. At some point your Blacksmith trainer will set you off on a quest to become either a Weapon or Armor specialist.

As an Armor Blacksmith you will still gain access to most of the plans that allow a Blacksmith to craft weapons though and this also goes the other way around. You will however gain access to patterns that allow you to craft rare items. The choice isn’t that heavy though because you will still be able to create most of the good stuff that the Blacksmithing profession offers you anyway.

Once you have managed to skill up your Blacksmithing you can learn to produce quite an amount of valuable and much wanted items. These can be used by the Blacksmith himself or sold for nice amounts on the Auction House. There are a lot of epic items you can make as Blacksmith and creating Belt Buckles is also very nice. Belt Buckles can be applied to belts. Once used, you will see that you receive a socket on the belt which allows players to place a gem in their belt which makes the item better.

You also have the advantage of being able to create Socket Bracer and Socket Gloves. These can be applied on your bracers and gloves and once applied you will also be able to place a gem in them to make yourself even stronger. Socket Gloves and Socket Bracer are two items that become soulbound once created which means that the Blacksmith can only use these himself and that they cannot be sold.

Blacksmithing can make your leveling easier and more fun. Especially when you combine it with Mining you will see how easy it is to level it up and at the later levels you can make your profit out of it and create some cool items for yourself, friends, guildies and strangers.
