Recently I decided it was time to try playing as a Blood Elf. Since I wasn’t up for grinding my way to higher levels (again), I invested some money in the Horde  version of the Zygor Guides. I wanted to see if the hype was true and I could level faster with the guide. Let me tell you what I’ve learned so far.

Why Other Leveling Guides Didn’t Impress

I used other guides before Zygor and wasn’t impressed. There were various reasons, but the biggest was the way that you had to keep getting out of the game to consult the guide and figure out what to do next. It was a major headache. Eventually, I set up a second computer. I played the game on one and read the guide on the other. The hassle was bad enough, but the way it kept pulling me out of the game to go consult the other computer really made it less fun.

Why Zygor Guides are Better

Zygor Guides work within World of Warcraft. What does that mean? It means that the guide information appears in a window right inside the game. With this kind of presentation, the information is much more accessible, and you can stay “in” the game. This makes the entire experience vastly better and more enjoyable.

You’re also in control of the amount of information the guide gives you. You can close the Zygor Guide window completely if you just want to focus on playing. If I do want help, I get two choices. I can have s little window with just enough information to know what I need to do next. If I really want help, I can switch to the large Zygor Guide window with just a click, and get tons of information about my current situation and what I need to do next.

Another feature I love is the distance and direction arrow. This puppy always points to the next objective, and updates in real time so I always know where I need to be heading. It’s a great time saver, particularly once you have a flyer and can go directly toward your objective. You get all the information you need without ever having to look away from the game.

Do Zygor Guides Actually Get You Through the Levels Faster?

If you’re like me you’re probably thinking this all sounds really cool, but are wondering if my Zygor Horde Guide actually helped me to level faster? Well, when I was ready to test the guide for the first time, my brother offered to escort me with one of his characters that was several levels higher than mine. I told him what I was doing & that I would do this session on my own, following the advice in Zygor. We both started playing, and he checked in on me a few hours later. When he did, he confirmed my opinion of how good Zygor Guides are. His first words were, “Hey! How the bleep did you get up to that level so fast? Can my guy come with yours next time?”
