WoW Mining – Popular and Profitable

Mining is a good choice for a primary profession, especially if you are not sure which one to pick. Why? It is a profession that complements a great number of other primary professions, and leveling some of them goes very poorly without mining. Mining and Jewelcrafting are a great pair, Mining and Blacksmithing and Mining and Engineering as well. It can also be paired up with another profession of gathering type, such as Herbalism or Skinning, where it does not have any purpose other than amassing your profit. Starting to mine?

Novice Miners need to have an access to a few necessary things. A mining pick would be the first item you would need and you can get it at trade goods or mining supplies vendors, who are usually found next to a mining trainer.

Mining veins are another necessary thing you will need to find. Same as with Herbalism, with Mining you will get “Find Minerals” ability. When “Find Minerals” is activated you will be able to track veins on your minimap (yellow dots). By making a good use of addons like The Gatherer, you can save the locations of all the veins you found. You will be able to store the locations of veins found by any of the guild/party member who has the same addon as you.

The most common places to look for veins are the mountain areas, hills and rocks. As each area is different in level so are the veins. The starting areas of all classes usually have Copper and Tin veins.

What do I get with Mining?

Mining comes with ability which is called Smelting. With Smelting you can create valuable metal bars from the ore you received while mining. While picking a vein, you will also be able to gather stones, various motes and even some valuable gems. For the best leveling guide click here: Ultimate Guide WoW

How is Mining accompanying other professions

As mentioned before, Mining is popular because it is a good counterpart to some professions. Jewelcrafting, Engineering and Blacksmithing depend greatly on Mining. The choice of professions is always up to you, however, it is good to have 2 suitable professions paired in order to get the best out of them and skill up faster. Combo of Mining and Herbalism is said to be really good for making profit since you can just fly around the map and gather herbs and ores.

Is there something else I should know about when it comes to Mining?

Mining, aside from its high profitability, is also an excellent choice for all the classes that are need of additional hit points, such as Warriors, Death Knight tanks and Paladins. There is a special skill offered with Mining – the Toughness. This skill will give you additional amount of stamina while you are leveling Mining and when you hit 450 in Mining, Toughness will give you 50 stamina (around 500 hit points). Nice bonus for a tank, isn’t it.

Classes that most often decide to pick up Mining professions are Paladins and Warriors. Death Knights, who are the new class in WoW, in most cases choose Mining as well because they too are plate wearers and can spec to be tanks. Still, not only the plate-wearing classes opt for Mining. Other classes do it also if their second profession is either Jewelcrafting or Engineering. If you would like more on WoW Leveling, click here: WoW Guide
