WoW Tailoring – Maximizing the use of Cloth
Tailoring is one of the crafting professions in WoW. Not only that this profession has many options to offer to the players who choose it, it also is very easy to level up.
Starting from the lower levels up to higher levels cloth is easy to collect since all humanoid mobs drop it. One can use cloth to either maximize his First Aid skill or for Tailoring as his primary profession. Click here for more on WoW Tailoring Guide
What can I craft with the Tailoring profession?
Tailoring offers tons of possibilities when it comes to items you can craft such as different types of cloth armor sets, cloaks, different kinds of bags, Embroideries and Spellthreads and what is maybe the most interesting – a Magnificent Flying Carpet which is a mount especially designed for Tailors.
Various specializations will enable you to craft you a special piece of cloth – one piece every 4 days, Spellweave, Moonshroud or Ebonweave. With this kind of special cloth you can craft pre-raiding epic armor sets for both damage dealer casters and healers. Unless you are planning to craft some of these sets, you can sell these types of cloth on the AH for nice profit.
Raising your Kalu’ak reputation to Revered will allow you to purchase Emerald Bag tailoring pattern. This 32 slot bag is very useful for any Herbalist and therefore you can sell it easily. For the best leveling guide click here: Ultimate Guide WoW
Tailoring benefits
As you enter Northrend, Tailoring will grant you an ability to gather more cloth. This ability is called ‘Northern Cloth Scavenging’, and as a passive ability it is available only to Tailors.
With the Northrend Dungeonmaster achievement completed you will be granted a special tailoring pattern which will allow you to make Wispcloak, an epic cloak for healers and with the Loremaster achievement you will be able to craft Deathchill Cloak which is ideal for dps classes.
Another specialty of Tailors are their Spellthreads. Once placed on leggings, these Spellthreads provide healers/damage dealer casters with a nice boost on their statistics. The ability to make Spellthreads comes with exalted reputation gained with some factions. Sapphire Spellthread which gives +50 sp and +30 stamina requires exalted reputation with Kirin Tor, while Brilliant Spellthread (+50 sp and +20spirit) requires exalted reputation with Argent Crusade. However, this is only if you want to craft these for other players or sell them on the AH. To create a Spellthread for his own use a Tailor only needs will two Ethernium threads.
Embroideries allow enhancement of the Tailors’ cloak statistics. This is perfect for healers or dps casters. Embroideries are ideal for any type of caster either a healer or dps. Embroidery for cloak is quite similar to enchant and therefore it is a very powerful boost.
Which classes usually take Tailoring as their main profession?
Classes who can only wear cloth are usually the ones that choose Tailoring, for example Shadow/Holy Priests, Locks and Mages. It is not rare that even Balance and Resto Druids take Tailoring as one of their main professions.
Which classes are advised to take Tailoring as their primary profession
In most cases Tailors choose Enchanting as their second profession. These two professions are said to be a perfect match since Tailoring requires some of the Enchanting products such as dust, while cloth products can be easily disenchanted and used as materials for Enchanting. Any of these valuable materials can be used for personal needs or sold to other players. Anyone who has ever leveled up Enchanting will tell you that without Tailoring leveling of Enchanting goes really slow, not to mention that it is very pricy.
