Shamans – The Spiritcallers
Shamans are one of the hybrid classes in the World of Warcraft. For quite a while Shamans as a class were available only to the Horde while Alliance had Paladins in exchange. However, this has changed since the release of the Burning Crusade and Shamans also became available to the Alliance players with the Draenei race.
Shamans resemble Druids in few things such as in their ability to change spec from healing to dps caster and to melee dps as well. Their talent tree has tree branches a player can choose from – Elemental, Enhancement and Restoration. When one chooses Elemental branch of the talent tree he is definitely into playing his Shaman as a dps caaster. In order to be good, you will need to gather gear that has a lot of spell power and crit, haste and hit rating. Click here to watch the video: WoW Shaman
By choosing the Enhancement talents, a Shaman will become a good melee dps. The Enhancement build will also require you to have adequate gear that has a lot of Agility, hit, crit and haste. A special ability granted to all Enhancement Shamans is the ability to summon two ghost wolves which will help a Shaman in a fight against any enemy. This spell is very useful, especially in PvP.
The Restoration talent build belongs to the healers. His heals are mostly single target spells and he also has a chain heal which can heal multiple targets. Another nice and protective spell, a Resto Shaman can apply to the friendly target or himself, is the Earth shield. Shaman healers need a lot of mana regeneration – mp5 on their gear as well as the spell power.
Shamans can wear cloth, leather and mail. While leveling up to some point they will have to wear leather since the ability to wear mail will not be available to them. Mail armor is always better for a Shaman since it’s stronger and has better stats. Similar to Hunter’s armor sets, mail armor sets made for Shamans have a lot of useful stats like intellect, which is important for a Shaman since he is a mana user. Many players will tell you that Enhancement build is great for leveling. As an Enhancement Shaman you will not need much mana since most of your skills are melee and therefore your leveling will go much faster. Do not forget to put some points in a special ability – the ghost wolf form since it will enable you to turn into your ghost wolf instantly!.
Shamans are fun to play and what made them especially popular in any type of game play is their ability to summon totems. There are four groups of totems divided into elements – Air totems, Fire totems, Water totems and Earth totems. The strength of his totems will depend on his build and in any case with the use of totems, a Shammy can boost his group drastically. Since there are four groups of elements, a Shaman can use one totem from each group so in total he can cast 4 different totems.
The Shaman class is a fun class for leveling and playing both PvE and PvP, since they are able to change their role when needed. Playing a Shaman will not get you bored easily because of the options at hand.
