Player versus Player (PvP) combat is in your Priest’s future, even if you’ve avoided it so far. Wrath of the Lich King has brought a new emphasis to World PvP. Competing in WoW PvP combat as a Priest requires a lot of forethought and planning. With loads of mana and all sorts of heals, a Priest can be a strong PvP combatant. On the other hand, with little health and no armor, if an opponent can get past your Priest’s defenses, it’s all over. If you want to be successful in Priest PvP combat, you had better have a smart plan. If you don’t, your Priest will be dying an awful lot.

When a Priest is part of a group in PvP combat, it’s usually assumed that the Priest is there to heal the rest of the party. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Holy and Discipline Priests are extremely useful to any arena or battleground groups, where they buff and debuff characters generally filling the time-honored healer role.
