How Your Priest Can Dominate PvP Today

Player versus Player (PvP) combat is in your Priest’s future, even if you’ve avoided it so far. Wrath of the Lich King has brought a new emphasis to World PvP. There’s now a real time PvP battle zone called Lake Wintergrasp. There, the emphasis is on real-time World PvP. There players battle on the live server to win points that allow them to shop for all sorts of rare and valuable items.

Given the popularity of Lake Wintergrasp and the increasing amount of PvP combat in other popular games, there will surely be even more World PvP in the future. So let’s talk about how your Priest can dominate:

Competing in WoW PvP combat as a Priest requires a lot of forethought and planning. With loads of mana and all sorts of heals, a Priest can be a strong PvP combatant. On the other hand, with little health and no armor, if an opponent can get past your Priest’s defenses, it’s all over. If you want to be successful in Priest PvP combat, you had better have a smart plan. If you don’t, your Priest will be dying an awful lot.

When a Priest is part of a group in PvP combat, it’s usually assumed that the Priest is there to heal the rest of the party. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Holy and Discipline Priests are extremely useful to any arena or battleground groups, where they buff and debuff characters generally filling the time-honored healer role. Shadow Priests, on the other hand can be powerful DPS (Damage Per Second) dealers, with the added bonus of being able to heal when necessary. Whether your Priest provides aid and healing to your party, or kicks butt on the attack largely depends on how you develop and play the class.

A Priest can be quite effective against many classes – they can use Fear spells to control opponents and dish out DoTs (Damage Over Time) spells, while at the same time, they can dispell most any spell an opponent casts. But against other classes, a Priest without the right strategies is virtually defenseless. Without the correct strategy, a Priest has virtually no hope against Rogues, for example.

This is why a quality Priest PvP Guide is imperative for getting the best possible results. A good guide will not only show you strategies and tactics your Priest can use against each class, but will give the Priest a good idea about how other classes will approach the fight too. A good Priest PvP Guide provides more than just a few standard strategies for Priests. It should show how to take on each of the other classes in one on one duels. And it should show you how your Priest, whether Holy, Discipline, or Shadow spec, can best fit into a 2v2, 3v3, or 5v5 team.

Because a quality PvP Guide contains the hard-earned experience of Priests with a vast amount of experience, it will contain strategies and tactics that are not obvious to newer players. It will teach you the most important things to know, saving you a big block of time you would otherwise have to spend dying in battle before you become skilled at PvP combat.
